And, its always nice to have great friends in the business that will fight for you all the way! Celebrities have a way of helping when it comes to the Oscar Predictions.
Bishop Guillory, like Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter was wrongfully convicted in a Corrupt Court of Law. And, only after fighting the system from within did the Bishop ever see the Light of Justice. I Know Why The Caged Lion Roars, will make you laugh, cry, and even get outraged with the system that sends so many of our young innocent black men to prisons throughout this nation.
What started out as a Documentary has become a full 120 minute movie. "I just want people understand what really happens when you take a young 23 year old and wrongfully convict him. Send him to the most odious place in the world "prison' and say fight for your life if you want to some day go home! said, Bishop L.J. Guillory.
The movie starts off in the city of Compton In the early 1990s, United States Attorney Joey Chin conducted a series of investigations, centered on a phony waste-to-energy scheme, that ultimately ensnared a number of prominent elected officials. A Compton Police Department internal affairs investigation report from 1999—just obtained by The Compton Bulletin—reveals that corruption within the department’s narcotics unit was identified in the months leading up to its eventual demise. The nearly 100-page report details an investigation that was launched shortly after Chief Hourie Taylor and Capt. Percy Perrodin were placed on administrative leave.
While Taylor was removing his personal belongings from the station, two of four kilos of cocaine that had been seized in a case dating back to 1992 and should have already been destroyed were found in a drug vault locker in which Taylor had indicated he might have personal belongings. Besides highlighting poor oversight and a slew of deficiencies and improprieties stemming from the absence of rules and regulations over the narcotics unit, the investigation revealed that three kilograms of cocaine were either stolen or lost from the department’s narcotics vault. The missing drugs had a street value of roughly $51,000.
Also probed was the alleged release of 60 kilograms of cocaine seized on April 23, 1997, to the FBI, which the investigators had been unable to verify as of the more than month-long investigation’s conclusion.
The movie takes you right on the Prison yard where Guillory and other African-American and Mexican-American Prisoners where pitted to Gladiator Fights. Front-page article by Mark Arax in the August 1996 Los Angeles Times claimed that CORCORAN STATE PRISON was "the most troubled of the 32 state prisons." At the time, CORCORAN PRISON officers had shot and killed more inmates "than any prison in the country" in CORCORAN's eight years of existence; based on interviews and documents, Arax concluded that many shootings of prisoners were "not justified" and that in some cases "the wrong inmate was killed by mistake." Furthermore, the article alleged that "officers... and their supervisors staged fights between inmates" during "gladiator days."
In November 1996, CBS Evening News broadcast "video footage of an inmate fatally shot by guards" at CORCORAN in 1994; this death "spawned a probe by the Federal Bureau of Investigation of alleged inmate abuses by guards." Bishop Guillory, was taken out of the Corcoran State Prison and was placed in federal Custody.
A March 1997 episode of the CBS News 60 Minutes discussed the 1994 death, "the alleged cover-up and the alarming number of shootings at the prison."The California Department of Corrections issued the results of its own investigation in November 1997, which found "isolated incidents of staff misconduct" but no "'widespread staff conspiracy' to abuse prisoners." Bishop L.J. Guillory, was sent to Prison to die.
A film entitled "Maximum Security University," which used prison surveillance tapes showing four 1989-1993 fights "end[ing] when a guard fatally shoots a combatant," was released in February 1998. That month, eight California correctional officers and supervisors were indicted "on federal criminal civil rights charges in connection with inmate fights that occurred at Corcoran State Prison in 1994." After a trial, the eight men were "acquitted of all charges" in June 2000.

Ombudsman General L.J. Guillory Stands With Los Angeles City Councilman Bernard Parks
The Bishop is known to keep it Real. So when many counted Old Man Parks out! The Bishop Continued to Stand with him. The Honorable Ombudsman General who is also "The Bishop" Guillory, remembered what he learned long ago in California political wars! "Fight what you can see and be ready for whatever you can't see!"
The Honorable Los Angeles Councilman Bernard Parks has become controversial yet many of the 'old school' power brokers still support him. And, this time The Old School Proved that they still have the beat of the Real Community.
Most on lookers would have put money on the fact that Parks would have a run off. "As long as our people continue to allow the Real leaders to fight for them and not some of the Fly-By Night Voices that have come to cause confusion at this most paramount time in our political future" "We don't have time to fight one another and the other side too!" Said, Bishop Guillory.
Parks declared victory early Wednesday, and held on to his lead of over 50% of the vote. There are still votes to be counted. But, Parks is enjoying the thought of no run off in May. Hogan-Rowles who was supported by Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley; has refused to concede pending a more definitive count, which may not be posted for weeks.
Millions was spent and the vote proved that people wanted Parks to represent the 8th District. Looks like the unions are going to have to get to the table with the Real Leaders and the Old School/Heads. Millions of Dollars don't buy votes of The Real (smile) N's.

Bishop L.J. Guillory Fights To Save The Sheriff's Contract In The City of Compton
Baca fights Compton's bid to police itself
As the City Council moves toward reestablishing a local police department, the L.A. County sheriff says the city cannot currently afford such a change.
City Manager Willie Norfleet told the council Tuesday that the city's general fund and retirement fund would be able to absorb the cost of a new police agency at the same amount it spends on the current contract with the Sheriff's Department.
But the city has not been paying the Sheriff's Department the full amount owed under its existing contract, Rogers said. The city was currently behind by $6 million, having just paid about $4 million of its outstanding balance, he said.
In an internal memo to the council in March, Norfleet, then the city's controller, warned: "If the city is unable to pay the sheriff's contract on time next fiscal year, this will be a major indicator that the city will not be able to pay the salaries and other expenses of the Compton Police Department."
At the end of the 2010 fiscal year in July, the city's general fund was running a deficit of at least $8.7 million, according to city records. But Norfleet said the general fund's cash flow would be adequate to finance a local police department.
The City Council voted in July 2009 to reallocate $19.9 million in lease revenue bond funds from a planned senior center and transit center parking structure toward police department start-up costs. Critics decried the move as improper because that was not the purpose for which the bonds were issued.
The city's position, Norfleet said, is that it can use the money for police department capital expenses. An official with the L.A. County treasurer and tax collector's office confirmed Wednesday that that is permissible if the bonds are tax-exempt.
Compton contracted with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department to provide law enforcement services after the Compton Police Department disbanded in 2000, partially because of financial issues. Compton's contract is the fourth-largest that the Sheriff's Department has with a city.
The old Compton Police Department had a reputation for corruption. In 2004, residents voted overwhelmingly against bringing it back. The vote, however, was advisory, not binding.
"I remember the flagitious mercenaries who roamed the streets, who dealt drugs and participated in murders," said Bishop L.J. Guillory, ombudsman general for Ombudsman International, a nonprofit government oversight organization. "We don't want that lawlessness back here in Compton."
Guillory, a lifelong Compton resident, cited a greater level of accountability and cooperation between the Sheriff's Department and the community.
A group of residents led by former City Clerk Charles Davis is circulating a petition to place a measure on the ballot that would block the formation of a municipal police department.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SENDS BISHOP L.J. GUILLORY A SPECIAL NOTE
Bishop L. J. Guillory Receives A Special Note From United States President Barack Obama, As Well As A Copy of The Signed National Mentoring Proclamation 2010
The White House
Washington
Bishop L.J. Guillory, D.D.
“Thank you for the dedication you have shown to your community. Our Nation relies on the faith and determination of the American people, and I admire your commitment. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.”
Sincerely,

Presidential Proclamation - National Mentoring Month
A PROCLAMATION
Every day, mentors in communities across our Nation provide crucial support and guidance to young people. Whether a day is spent helping with homework, playing catch, or just listening, these moments can have an enormous, lasting effect on a child's life. During National Mentoring Month, we recognize those who give generously of themselves by mentoring young Americans.
As tutors, coaches, teachers, volunteers, and friends, mentors commit their time and energy to kids who may otherwise lack a positive, mature influence in their lives. Their impact fulfills critical local needs that often elude public services. Our government can build better schools with more qualified teachers, but a strong role model can motivate students to do their homework. Lawmakers can put more police officers on our streets and ensure our children have access to high-quality health care, but the advice and example of a trusted adult can keep kids out of harm's way. Mentors are building a brighter future for our Nation by helping our children grow into productive, engaged, and responsible adults.
Many of us are fortunate to recall a role model from our own adolescent years who pushed us to succeed or pulled us back from making a poor decision. We carry their wisdom with us throughout our lives, knowing the unique and timeless gift of mentorship. During this month, I encourage Americans to give back by mentoring young people in their communities who may lack role models, and pass that precious gift on to the next generation.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 2010 as National Mentoring Month. I call upon public officials, business and community leaders, educators, and Americans across the country to observe this month with appropriate ceremonies, activities, and programs.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fourth day of January, in the year of our Lord two thousand ten, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-fourth.
BARACK OBAMA

President Obama and Bishop L.J. Guillory Get The Voters To The Polls 2010
In what should be considered the best voter turn out in both California and Nevada. The White House enlisted the best of the best and the out come was what became history in both states. Sen. Henry Reed was said to be out of luck and time. In fact, the Tea Party called the long termed Senator washed up!
However, just days before what history will recount as the best fought fight in LasVegas The Honorable President of the United States of America came to the Sin City for a visit and turned the race into a bad thought in the Republicans mind. Even, life long Republicans like Bishop L.J.Guillory gave support to Sen. Reed after President Obama's speech.
California had its own history lesson for those persons who told the Democrats that they would take over even the Golden State. Bishop Guillory, made a trip home to campaign for the woman who became the first Black woman to be elected Attorney General of the State of California. Kamala Harris made history. Bishop Guillory, who also supported Karen Bass, Laura Richardson, Barbara Lee and Maxine Waters for Congress had very little time to go to any of their events. Due in part to the fact that once he met Kamala Harris and she requested his support he knew that it would be a fight to the end.
"Though I am a card holder/member of the GOP I have always supported the people that I can have contact with after the election is long over!" Said, Bishop Guillory.
